The Grove’s premises are currently closed. We will watch how lockdown restrictions are eased in the coming months. We would re-open the practice for attendance in person when we believe that indications from external circumstances are favourable and sustainable for indoor therapy attended in person which is held indoors.
Making an initial appointment
If you are unsure which therapist would be the best match for your situation, we recommend that you come along for an Initial Consultation first of all, to talk things through with one of our directors, Elliot Davis, Robert Rees, or Sarah Paton Briggs. This way, you can receive input on how therapy can help in your particular circumstances, as well as guidance on which therapist might be a good match for your particular needs. Initial Consultations are suitable for individual clients or for couple therapy. Robert, Elliot, and Sarah each work with individuals or couples.

Private health insurance
If you have private health insurance, please contact us to arrange your appointment. The requirements of each insurance company can vary, such as Vitality or AXA PPP or Bupa or Cigna. A psychotherapist registers specifically and individually with each insurance company – rather than The Grove being registered as a practice.
You will need to provide to your therapist the Authorisation Code from the insurance company prior to booking, otherwise direct billing to your insurer may be impossible. Don’t book and pay online – because this cost may not be recoverable from your insurer. It’s important to obtain authorisation from your insurer before your first appointment at The Grove, to ensure your sessions will be funded. The Grove’s terms of service
Appointments are for 50 minutes.
Initial Consultations are suitable for individual clients or for couple therapy. Robert, Elliot, and Sarah each work with individuals or couples.
Sessions ordinarily take place at The Grove Practice, 4 Wimpole Street, London W1G 9SH. Currently sessions take place remotely. We intend to return to face-to-face work according to government guidelines for business meetings being suitable, alongside our own hygiene measures.
By booking and paying online, you are committing to the selected appointment time.
Missed appointments, rescheduled bookings, or cancelled sessions are chargeable in full.
If you’re unable to attend the appointment you booked, please contact your therapist as soon as you know you won’t be able to attend. If possible, they may be able to offer you an alternative session that week, or waive the fee in exceptional circumstances (but only at their discretion.)
The Grove does not operate a cancellation period such as 24 or 48 hours. (We find that often we are holding diary time in good faith, for longer than the notice clients can give us regarding cancellation.) We prefer to hold a conversation regarding the applicable circumstances to determine whether discretion can be applied – because we view therapy as a relational dialogue.
